About the camera

Location

The camera sits on the second-floor balcony of Weinberg Apartments in Raas (Natz-Schabs), 805 m above sea level. It looks over Brixen into the Eisack valley.

How it works

A DSLR (Canon EOS 100D with an EF-S 18–55 mm lens) is controlled by a Raspberry Pi. Every ten minutes it takes a photo, the Raspberry uploads it, and the server renders several sizes and stores it in the archive. At night exposures run up to 30 seconds.

The software is based on the work of Flori Radlherr, who runs DSLR webcams in special places at foto-webcam.eu and openly shares his experience. Thank you!
